We’re very pleased to be involved in Bach Cantatas in the City at three St. Anne’s Bach Vespers as Spring becomes Summer.
On 27 May we will perform BWV 165, O heilges Geist- und Wasserbad, a cantata for Trinity Sunday concerning the rite of baptism.
Then on 17 June we will perform BWV 135, Ach Herr, mich armen Sünder, a cantata illuminating the parables of the lost sheep and the lost coin.
Finally, on 29 July we will perform BWV 168, Tue Rechnung! Donnerwort, another cantata concerning the figure of the Unjust Steward, a subject in Luke’s Gospel that Bach revisited in his sacred cantatas. This Bach Vespers will constitute the final performance of Music-at-Hill’s 23rd St. Anne’s International Bach Festival.
Bach Vespers at 6.30pm on either Sunday is free to attend (with a voluntary collection) and lasts about an hour. Tea & coffee are available.
